Receiving RSS project news

Summary: How to receive RSS project announcements
Last edited on March 30th, 2007 by Guido Haarmans

Project leaders can send announcements via RSS. This enables you to access public project announcements even if you are not logged in to the CollabNet platform. To use this feature, you must first install an RSS reader.

Note: If you are unable to receive announcements in your RSS reader, your domain administrator may have disabled it. Also, not all projects use RSS.

To receive RSS feeds for project news:

  1. Click the Projects tab.
  2. Click the link for the project you want to get RSS message from
  3. Click Announcements.
  4. Copy the URL for the announcements page, for example:
    http://RSSTestProject.collab.net/servlets/ProjectNewsList
  5. Paste the URL into an RSS reader on your desktop.
  6. Edit the URL to substitute the string "RSS" for "List". For example:
    http://RSSTestProject.collab.net/servlets/ProjectNewsRSS
  7. Subscribe to this RSS feed.
The next time the news reader updates its listings, new project announcements will be displayed on your desktop.

Some comunity sites have a list of all their RSS feeds, check java.net for an example.
